How do I enable the system to process employee time records in a specific sequence during the import?

We have validations on one time type—where an employee cannot take leave for Time Type B unless the quota for Time Type A is used up.

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central – Time Management

1. Navigate to Import and Export>Import
2. Select Employee Time
3. Select the import File
4. Click on Import

• To ensure proper sequence processing during the import of employee time records, the import file should be sorted based on the external codes.
• If a specific sequence order is necessary, it's important to create a reliable and sortable external code.
• If you don’t provide a custom external code, the system will generate an external code, which could lead to a random execution order. 
• If there are validations on one time type—where an employee cannot take leave for Time Type B unless the quota for Time Type A is used up—it’s important to manage the import process accordingly.
  • For example, if Time Type B has a validation requiring the quota of Time Type A to be checked before leave is granted, it’s recommended to filter Time Type A in the Import Employee Time File and import it first. Once Time Type A has been processed successfully, you can then proceed with processing the absence for Time Type B.
• This strategy will ensure that validations function as intended, preserving the sequence and integrity of the leave process.
