3578016 - Freight Unit Split Issue in Sales Order in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • A sales order was created in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, and the gross weight was maintained as per the freight unit building rule.
  • Despite this, the freight unit is splitting into two.

Environment

  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Cause

The issue is a system behavior. Certain attributes on item and header level of the predecessor documents may prevent this consolidation and lead to the creation of separate freight units for the predecessor documents and their items. These attributes are considered as hard constraints and may apply to both order-based and delivery-based business documents.

Resolution

Check the list containing the main hard constraints using the sales order that lead to the creation of separate freight units for the predecessor documents and their items:

Automatic Creation of Freight Units

First, the system groups all sales order items taking into account the following parameters:

  • Hard constraints (see Hard Constraints)

  • Business document attributes (such as sales order attributes)

  • FUB rules

Here the system takes into account freight units that already exist for these business documents.

The system then creates one or more freight units from these groups. If you have defined a split quantity, the system takes these entries into account when creating multiple freight units.

The business document item attribute Delivery Group is used to consolidate all items with the same delivery group into one freight unit. It is also possible to consolidate items with different delivery groups into the same freight unit based on the above grouping parameters.

The business document header attribute Complete Delivery is used to consolidate all items into one freight unit.

The business document item attribute Partial Delivery at Item Level is used to determine if partial deliveries are allowed. If partial delivery is not allowed, the item is not split into multiple freight units.

The system creates freight units based on determined FUB rules. For more information, see Determination of Freight Unit Building Rules.
