3578163 - Cost Object description display issue

• In the "Free Cost Objects - Line Items" report, the "Cost Object Description" field does not display any data.
• However, when the Cost Object ID is selected to enter the "Cost Object Overview" screen, the "Cost Object Name" field contains a data.
• The issue leads to incomplete reporting to management.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Cost and Revenue work center.
2. Go to the Free cost object sub view.
3. Select the relevant Cost Object ID to enter the "Cost Object Overview" screen.
4. Observe that the "Cost Object Name" field contains a name.
5. Go to the Reports view under the Cost and Revenue work center.
6. Navigate to the "Free Cost Objects - Line Items" report.
7. Apply the following filters like Company, Set of Books, Accounting Period/Year, Cost Object ID.
8. Observe that the "Cost Object Description" field is empty.

• The issue occurs because the description of the relevant cost object ID is maintained only in non-English language.
• When logged in the system with a specific language (non-English language), the cost object description is displayed in non-English only or empty.
• If the description needs to be displayed in English, the Cost Object Name needs to be maintained in English language as well.

1. For the relevant cost object ID, maintain the description in both English and the local language or all the logon languages which is in use.
2. If the description needs to be displayed in English, maintain the Cost Object Name in English as well.
3. After maintaining the Cost Object description in English language, try to run the "Free Cost Objects - Line Items" report.
4. The Cost Object Description" field will have data.
