Symptom
- During the execution of the balance carry forward run, an error message appears as 'Application runtime exception; report a case' is displayed.
- The error persists even after multiple attempts at running the balance carry forward run.

Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the General Ledger work center.
- Go to the Balance carryforward sub view.
- Search for the relevant run ID.
- Select that and go to the log result.
- Navigate to the Messages tab.
- The error message appears as 'Application runtime exception; report a case'.
Cause
- The issue arises due to the presence of an excessive number of zero balance GL accounts (more than 10,000 entries approx.) for the required Company and Set of Books.
- The system unable to handle the load of such a large number of GL account entries, even after an increase in system memory and still gives the error message.
Resolution
- Identify the zero balance GL accounts that are not required in the system.
- Reduce or delete these unnecessary zero balance GL account entries which is included in the balance carryforward run for the relevant year.
- After the cleanup, attempt to run the Balance Carry Forward again.
- It will run successfully without any error message.
