3578178 - Error in Balance Carry Forward run due to excessive zero balance GL Accounts

Symptom

  • During the execution of the balance carry forward run, an error message appears as 'Application runtime exception; report a case' is displayed.
  • The error persists even after multiple attempts at running the balance carry forward run.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the General Ledger work center.
  2. Go to the Balance carryforward sub view.
  3. Search for the relevant run ID.
  4. Select that and go to the log result.
  5. Navigate to the Messages tab.
  6. The error message appears as 'Application runtime exception; report a case'.

Cause

  • The issue arises due to the presence of an excessive number of zero balance GL accounts (more than 10,000 entries approx.) for the required Company and Set of Books. 
  • The system unable to handle the load of such a large number of GL account entries, even after an increase in system memory and still gives the error message.

Resolution

  1. Identify the zero balance GL accounts that are not required in the system.
  2. Reduce or delete these unnecessary zero balance GL account entries which is included in the balance carryforward run for the relevant year.
  3. After the cleanup, attempt to run the Balance Carry Forward again.
  4. It will run successfully without any error message.
