3578954 - 'ID is initial' or 'No ID assigned to org unit. Assign ID' Error in Organizational Management

• An attempt is made to Activate or Check the change of an Org Unit, for example by selecting: 'Activate selected and dependent organizational units in background'.
• It fails with the following error: 'No ID assigned to org unit. Assign ID' error appears.
• The log of the related Org Structure Background Run shows error: 'ID is initial'
• No issues are detected for the Org Unit that shall be activated.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Organizational Management.
2. Select Edit Org Structure.
3. Set the related Effective Date.
4. Find the previously changed Org Unit.
5. Select for example: 'Check selected and dependent organizational units'.
6. Error: 'From XX.YY.ZZZZ; no ID assigned to org unit. Assign ID'. (where XX.YY.ZZZZ represents a date)

• Within the related Structure, an Organizational Unit was created without providing any Org Unit ID.  
• This is causing an inconsistence of the Org Structure.
• Note: The Org Unit may have a future Valid From date.

1. Go to Organizational Management.
2. Select Edit Org Structure.
3. Select the related Valid From date
4. Locate the inconsistent Org Unit which will be visible without Org Unit ID and other details.
5. If this Org Unit is not required, Delete it and Save.
6. Then Activate an above Org Unit by selecting: 'Activate selected and dependent organizational units'.
7. Upon activation, the inconsistency will be removed and the original Org Unit can be activated.
