3579761 - Data Blending returns less data than expected in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

Data Blending returns less data than expected in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud 2025.1

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log on to SAP Analytics Cloud
  2. Create a story and make the data source to have at least 1 Live BW model and 1 import data model. And create Data blending to link the two tables.
  3. Make the Live BW model as the primary one. Set the link type as All primary data, Unlinked dimensions options as Merged Members.
  4. Find after blending, the data returned is less even compare the data only comes from the primary Live BW model.

Cause

  • The data which is sent for the primary model is limited to 500 rows and 60 columns.
  • This is happening when the drill limit was set after the blending is performed. In this case, the drill limitation will only take effects for the blended query but not the original primary query.

Resolution

  • Before setting up the data blending, after the 1st model with data is placed in the table, edit the drill down limitation to unlimited in table first. After that, setup blending with the 2nd model.
  • Doing the above can help to change the primary query drill limit also to unlimited, which can prevent the truncated data behavior.
