Symptom

Users are unable to modify the character length of a custom picklist field configured within an MDF object in SAP SuccessFactors

Environment

Resolution

The user interface (UI) character length of fields—including custom MDF picklist fields—cannot be altered. This is a system-wide limitation that applies uniformly across all field types, not just those created using the Metadata Framework (MDF).
