3580251 - Email Campaign Behavior in Target Group Member Addition

Symptom

When adding members to a Target Group, the Email Campaign is sent to the Contact associated with the Account or Lead, rather than directly to the Account.

Environment

  • SAP Sales Cloud Version 2
  • SAP Sales and Service Cloud Version 2

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Navigation menu.
  2. Select Target Group view.
  3. Create a new Target Group.
  4. Click to Add a new member.

Cause

The system is designed to prioritize sending Email Campaigns to Contacts associated with Accounts or Leads. This behavior ensures that the Campaign reaches the most relevant individual within the Account or Lead structure.

Resolution

Understanding the behavior can help manage expectations when adding members to a Target Group. Here are the specific scenarios and their outcomes:

1. Adding a Contact:
- Action: When a Contact is added to the Target Group.
- Outcome: The Email Campaign is sent directly to the Contact.

2. Adding an Account:
- Action: When an Account is added to the Target Group, and the Account has one or more Contacts associated with it.
- Outcome: The Email Campaign is sent to the main Contact associated with the Account, if one exists. If there is no Contact associated with the Account, the Campaign is sent directly to the Account itself.

3. Adding a Lead:
- Action: When a Lead is added to the Target Group.
- Outcome: The Email Campaign is sent to the Contact associated with that Lead.

To ensure the correct recipients receive the Email, it is recommended to review the Contacts associated with the Accounts or Leads before adding them to the Target Group.
