3582945 - Inability to Trigger Quality Inspection During Post Goods Receipt Process in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • During the Post Goods Receipt (PGR) process for returns, the need arises to move returned goods to Quality Inspection.
  • However, in standard SAP Public Cloud returns processes, only movement types 653, 657, and 651 are available, which do not automatically trigger quality inspection.
  • Schedule lines cannot be created in the Public Cloud, thus the required functionality is not achieved.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a return sales order using CBAR or Lean Return order types.
  2. Post Goods Receipt (PGR) for the return delivery.
  3. Observe that standard follow-up activities trigger movement types 653 or 657 (CBAR) and 651 or 653 (CBRE).
  4. Verify that the goods are not moved to Quality Inspection automatically.

Cause

Expected system behaviour, SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition currently does not provide a direct movement type for Quality Inspection during return PGR.

Resolution

  1. Workaround: Manual Stock Transfer
Since automatic movement to Quality Inspection is not possible, the only available solution is a manual stock transfer after PGR.
Perform a stock transfer using movement type 322 (Transfer from Unrestricted to Quality Inspection).
  2. Feature Request:
To change this functionality would constitute a new feature request, please see KBA 2963059.
