3584050 - Adjusting In-Transit Stock to Zero for Outbound Delivery / Inbound Delivery IDs

Symptom

  • An attempt to adjust open Outbound Delivery IDs to zero via adjust in transit results in an error.
  • The error message displayed is "Operation not possible; confirmed inbound delivery must be released".
  • The Outbound and Inbound deliveries are over 2 years old compared to the current year.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Physical inventory work center.
  2. Go to Common Tasks view
  3. Choose Adjust In Transit Stock.
  4. Enter required Outbound Delivery IDs/ Inbound Delivery IDs
  5. Choose Adjust In- Transit to zero.
  6. The system throws an error.
  7. The error message displayed is "Operation not possible; confirmed inbound delivery must be released".

Cause

The Outbound Deliveries have respective inbound deliveries with status "In process" instead of "Released". This causes the system to throw an error as the confirmed inbound delivery must be released. If an adjust in transit to zero is performed against any OD, it implies that items are lost/damaged during in-transit, leading to an inventory mismatch with inventory cost.

In this case, it is not possible to complete the transaction since they are more than 2 years old.

Resolution

  • Documents older than 6 months but within the past 24 months can be posted in the inventory. However, posting documents beyond 24 months is not allowed due to data entry control.
  • This is standard system behavior.
