Symptom
- When a candidate has selected they are EXEMPT from taxes on their State Tax form first, the system does not allow for the Filing Status to be selected or changed. It becomes greyed out.
- Without this populated, the candidate cannot proceed with the MO W-4, even though they have entered EXEMPT to one of the panel responses.
- But if the candidate selects NON-EXEMPT in any of the fields in Question #4, the Filing Status field is editable
- This is somewhat confusing to the candidates and should have at least a pop-up message when this happens, so the candidate can better understand and fill out the panels accurately.

Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding 1.0
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Onboarding 1.0 Dashboard
- Take the activity for the affected candidate or try to complete the New Employee Step as the candidate.
- Select 'EXEMPT' from question number 4
- See that the filing status field is greyed out.
Cause
In the current onboarding 1.0 feature, this is how the system is designed.
- The candidate needs to select a value for Question #1 - the 'Filing Status' field first before answering the fields in in Question #4.
Resolution
- Unfortunately, Onboarding 1.0 is presently on a path towards End-of-Maintenance with the 2H 2025 Release, which is presently under development.
- At this time, we are no longer enhancing or modifying the Onboarding 1.0 module, as we must instead focus our resources on end-of-maintenance and end-of-life activities for the application.
- Adding a pop-up message is an excellent suggestion, however, and if possible we will integrate this into the latest version of Onboarding.
