Symptom
- From a story connected to BW system, after filtering on child node from Input control, the table displays all parent nodes of the child.
- We expect that it should show only the selected Cost Center, not its parents.
Environment
- SAP Analytics Cloud
Resolution
- This behavior is expected in SAP Analytics Cloud tables for displaying dimension hierarchy nodes. They are always displayed with their parents.
-
Regarding the Measures hierarchy nodes: they are not displayed with their parents, in SAC tables. Thus, we can switch the dimension ("Profit Center") hierarchy to a flat representation, then we will no longer see the parent nodes in the table.
-
Charts behave differently because they have an option to show/hide the parents of the hierarchy nodes, and this option is disabled by default.
- The "Show only leaves in widget" option can be used, but this would only display the hierarchy leaves of the selected nodes, without these nodes.
-
When filtering on hierarchy and view its display in the table from the filtered node and its child nodes but not it's parent node and above. In this scenario, we cannot compare SAC Story with the AFO (Analysis For Office) as they are for different purposes. AFO is for adhoc analysis and you can use SAC Data Analyzer for this adhoc analysis. Your required functionality can be achieved with the SAC Data Analyzer.
-
This is how the filter stack is working in the product, external hierarchal filters coming form Story Filters, Page Filters, Linked analysis are always only data filters, and they do not impact your display hierarchy on your widget. There are many reasons for this behavior, since you can set different hierarchies between those widgets … more about this topic is explained here : 3399064 After filtering on child node table displays all parent nodes of the child
