3585340 - How to import blank value in executive review - Compensation

Symptom

This article describes how to import blank value in executive review.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Compensation

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login as Comp Admin and open Executive Review.
  2. Select a template.
  3. Find an editable string type column which has a value input for the employee.
  4. Export Executive Review, remove the value in the column, save and import back to the system. Notice that there is no change after import.
  5. In the import file, replace the value in the column with 1 blank space only, save and import back to the system. Notice that there is also no change after import.
  6. In the import file, replace the value in the column with 2 blank spaces (or more), save and import back to the system. Notice that the value is now replaced and the worksheet shows 2 spaces in this column.
  7. Despite these discrepancies, the Monitor Compensation Job indicates that the above three jobs are all completed and one entry was updated successfully.

Cause

This is system expected behavior.

Resolution

  • To change string fields to blank during an Executive Review import, add at least two spaces in the import file for the system to recognize it as a blank value.
