3586124 - "Cannot connect to the model" error in Story based on Live connection to Datasphere in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

• Error message when opening a story based on Datasphere live connection in SAC: "Cannot connect to the model. Please verify that you have set the correct connection details for this model, then try again."
• The same model can be used in a newly created story.

• SAP Analytics Cloud Enterprise (2025.2.1)
• Live Connection to Datasphere

1. Login to SAC.
2. Open story based on Live connection to Datasphere.
3. Notice error message: "Cannot connect to the model. Please verify that you have set the correct connection details for this model, then try again."
4. All charts based on this model are broken.
5. Creating a new story and loading the same model from Datasphere again works correctly.

The connection used to load this model from Datasphere was deleted.

To resolve the issue, the old connection needs to be re-created with the same name.

Steps to find the deleted Live connection to Datasphere name:

1. Copy the Model's ID from the faulty Story.
2. Go to System >Overview> Search for Objects.
3. Find the Model's factsheet and open it.
4. The Connection's name is available in the model's factsheet.

Steps to restore the faulty model:

1. Create a Connection with the old name.
2. Open the faulty story.
3. The Model should be working correctly.

In case you would like to keep only one connection to Datasphere, use the "Replace" model option in the story to use the other connection. After that, the old connection can be deleted again.
