3586571 - After Booking a Full Day Leave, the Booked Work Time on the Same Day Is Not Reflected in the Project

Symptom

After a full day leave is requested from self-service and approved, the employee has booked another working hours for a project on the same day. However, the booked working hour is not displayed in the corresponding project.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to Home - Self-Services Overview.
  2. Click New Leave Request.
  3. Create a new Full Day leave request.
  4. After the leave request has been approved, navigate to Edit Time Sheet.
  5. Book a new working hour for a project on the same day on which the leave request is scheduled.
  6. Release the working hour.
  7. Navigate to Project Management - Time and Expenses.
  8. Observe that there is no record for the project of the releases working hour.

Cause

This is the designed system behavior. The system does not consider the remaining hours booked when an entire day leave is booked.

Resolution

The project is associated with availability calendar. When a full day leave has been scheduled, a whole day will be occupied so that availability calendar will consider the employee as not available for this particular day.

When the working hours are necessary to booked on the day which a leave is scheduled on, the ideal scenario is to book the vacation as partial day and book the remaining hours as Project time.

If an entire day leave is forced, book the leave directly on the time sheet with duration like 8 hours so that the entire day will not be occupied and the system will consider the remaining hours booked.
