3586842 - How to set HANA Parameter global.ini/[persistence]/basepath_shared=no before a new HANA installation starts?

Symptom

  • While attempting to install multiple-host SAP HANA database without standby nodes in a non-shared environment installation fails with the error 'error: 5514: cannot modify the system;host to be added cannot access shared data,log path

  • The workaround involves modifying global.ini/[persistence]/basepath_shared=no on the master node and then restarting "add hosts" as described in the KBA 2080991 - Install a multi-host HANA DB with non-shared data and log storage.

  • You would like to know how you can set global.ini/[persistence]/basepath_shared=no before a new HANA installation starts so that the installation process will go through to the end without the stop in the middle for modifying global.ini file as described above.
