3587023 - Emails sent from SAP system intermittently fail with error code XS817 in SOST.

Symptom

  • Emails being sent from the SAP system are intermittently failing in SOST.
  • The error code is 'Cannot process message in SAP System - XS817'.
  • When checking the long text of the XS817 message it shows: Error during generation of MIME document.
  • There are multiple application servers in the affected system, if there is only 1 application server in the system then this KBA is not relevant.
  • The SAPconnect trace of a failed email (see 1639935 - How to capture the SAPconnect trace) shows the following KPRO related errors:

    0075 GET_FROM_KPRO 

    Error SDOK_PHIO_LOAD_CONTENT; sy-subrc = 3

    0082 GET_FROM_KPRO | |<NO_CONTENT>
