3587726 - Incorrect Yield Proposal in Time Ticket Confirmation for Successor Operation/Phase in Production/Process Orders

Symptom

When using the 'Confirm Process Order Phase (COR6)' and 'Confirm Production Order Operation (CO11N)' apps for time ticket confirmation of production order operations or process order phases, the confirmed yield quantity from the predecessor operation or phase is not proposed as the yield to be confirmed for the successor operation or phase.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the 'Confirm Process Order Phase (COR6)' app or 'Confirm Production Order Operation (CO11N)' app.
  2. Perform a partial confirmation for an operation or phase, entering a specific confirmed yield quantity.
  3. Proceed to confirm the successor operation or phase of the partially confirmed predecessor.
  4. Notice that the proposed yield quantity for confirmation in the successor operation or phase is the entire operation/phase quantity instead of the confirmed yield quantity from the predecessor operation or phase, which is the expected behavior.

Cause

  • For production orders: The issue is caused by incorrect customizing settings.
  • For process orders: This is the standard system behavior, where the yield to be confirmed for phases during time ticket confirmation always defaults to the total phase quantity, rather than the confirmed yield from the predecessor phase.

Resolution

For Production Orders:

The functionality that adjusts the proposed quantity for operations based on the confirmed yield quantity of predecessor operations is available as standard.

To enable this, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Activity/SSCUI: "Define Production Scheduling Profile for Discrete Manufacturing" (ID 102508).
  2. Locate the confirmation section for the relevant plant and production scheduling profile.
  3. Enable the flag: "Adjust Quantities in Order to Actual Values".

Once this setting is activated, the system will automatically adjust the proposed yield quantity for operations according to the confirmed yield of the predecessor operation.

For Process Orders:

Unlike production orders, the "Adjust Quantities in Order to Actual Values" flag is not available in the Activity/SSCUI: "Define Production Scheduling Profile for Process Manufacturing" (ID 102814).

This is because process order phases have more complex relationships, making it difficult to determine the correct predecessor phase yield for automatic quantity adjustments. As a result, this functionality is not available as standard for process orders.

However, there are workarounds to prevent successor phases from confirming more quantity than their predecessor phases:

  1. Ensure proper phase relationships
    • Maintain the relationships between phases in the master recipe.
    • Create process orders based on this master recipe.
  2. Enable scrap consideration
    • Navigate to Activity/SSCUI: "Define Order-Type-Dependent Parameters for Process Orders" (ID 102810).
    • In the Planning tab, for the relevant plant and order type, enable the indicator "Scrap".
  3. Restrict out-of-sequence confirmations
    • Navigate to Activity/SSCUI: "Define Confirmation Parameters" (ID 102440).
    • In the Generally Valid Settings tab, under Checks, set "Operation Sequence" to: "E – Error when operation sequence is not adhered to".

When confirming a phase in the 'Confirm Process Order Phase (COR6)' app, if the proposed yield to be confirmed quantity for the successor phase is more than the confirmed yield quantity of the predecessor phase, the error message: Message no. RU442 will be issued. This will inform the users what quantity has already been confirmed and prevent them from confirming a greater quantity.
