3588177 - Error "You are not authorized to query the remote system. Please ask your administrator to grant you the InA role." when connecting SAP S/4HANA Cloud and SAP Analytics Cloud

Symptom

Connection between SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP S/4Hana Cloud fails with Error - "You are not authorized to query the remote system. Please ask your administrator to grant you the InA role."
 

Environment

SAP ANALYTICS CLOUD Version: 2025.1.6

Connection: Live
Datasource: S/4HANA Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to SAC
  2. Navigate to Connections
  3. Click on add connection and select S/4HANA Live as Data Source
  4. Fill the details in New S/4HANA Live Connection window.
  5. Click on OK and notice the error - "You are not authorized to query the remote system. Please ask your administrator to grant you the InA role."
     

Cause

Custom SAML mapping value in SAC uses an email address, which contains special characters, while the corresponding S/4HANA username does not allow special characters, leading to a mismatch.

Resolution

Update the custom SAML mapping in SAC to match the S/4HANA business user's username, ensuring it contains no special characters
