Symptom
When requesting an SSL certificate the issuer request validation for the certificate
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Marketing
Resolution
There are 3 types of SSL validation
- Domain Validation (DV):
This is the simplest, verifying only that the applicant has control of the domain name, not the organization's identity. The validation process is typically automated, often involving email verification with the Certificate Authority (CA). DV certificates are suitable for personal websites, blogs, or small businesses that don't handle sensitive customer data. Provides basic encryption. - Organization Validation (OV):
OV certificates require the Certificate Authority (CA) to verify the organization's legal existence and identity, offering a higher level of trust than DV certificates. Organization Validated (OV) certificates are authenticated with nine validation checks and are considered a mid-level business certificate - Extended Validation (EV):
EV certificates provide the highest level of trust, with the CA conducting a thorough verification of the organization's identity and legal existence, often displayed with a green address bar in browsers.
At the moment only Organization Validation is provided by SAP SuccessFactors for RMK Career Sites.
If an issuer is requesting to host a file on the domain for a particular link then this is DV and is not provided by SAP, please request the issuer to follow Organization Validation.
