Symptom

  • SAP MaxDB Backup fails. dbm.prt shows error below:

           ERR         10 DBMKnl   Returncode: -3004
           ERR          5 DBMKnl   Errortext:  Invalid host file sequence
           ERR          7 DBMKnl   Data:       PAGES TRANSFERRED. <NNNNN...>
           ERR          7 DBMKnl   Data:       PAGES LEFT........ 147371 

               ERR     -24988 DBMSrv   ERR_SQL: SQL error
           INF          0 DBMSrv   -3004,Invalid host file sequence
           INF          0 DBMSrv   Backupmedium #1 (<Backupmedium>): backup incomplete, next volume required
           INF          0 DBMSrv   Backup error occured, Error code 5220 "wrong_hostfile"
           ERR     -24580 DBMSrv   ERR_COMMAND_FAILED: Command 'backup_start' has ended and failed with return code -24988.
