3590224 - Non-MDF picklists do not support effective date

Symptom

Add a future effective date record to a picklist that is assigned to a non-MDF field, for example job information field. The field does not function properly once the future date arrives.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to a picklist configured outside MDF, such as in job information.
  2. Add a future-dated record to this picklist and include a new picklist value B in the future record.
  3. When the future date arrives, access any user's job information and select an effective date.
  4. Choose the value B from the dropdown list. Although it appears in the list, you will encounter an error when attempting to save it.

Cause

This behavior is expected. Picklists configured outside MDF, such as those in job information, do not support effective dating. When these picklists have multiple versions, they default to using the current date as the effective date. This is similar to MDF objects with picklists where effective dating is set to None. For more information, you can refer to the Picklist Versions section on the SAP Help Portal.

Resolution

Only a single record is allowed for picklists configured outside MDF, as multiple records with different effective dates are not recognized in this context.
