Symptom
The "Start Course" button is visible on the Learning Home Page for items without online content and directs learners to the Online Content page, even when no online content is available. On the Course Home Page for the same course, the "Start Course" button is disabled.
This inconsistency occurs for courses lacking online content objects.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Learning
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to learning admin
- Assign an Item with item classification as Online to the user without online content
- Observe a start course button is visible to the user even if there is no online content
Resolution
You can avoid showing the start course button from such items by navigating to the Item> Online Content tab> settings icon > Launch tab and turn off 'Content is available for launch (available for users)'.
This will hide the 'Start Course' button from users' homepage.
We have also created an enhancement to block admins from making courses without content available to users. As a workaround until this can be prioritized, admins should ensure any courses that are available to users have content added.
Once this feature is developed and guardrails are enabled to restrict admins, you will find it in What's New Viewer.
