3590946 - Able to Create Customer Return Notification for Undelivered Sales Order Line Items

Symptom

Sales order line items that have not been shipped can have following customer return notification.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a sales order ABC with two line items, and then proceed until an outbound delivery for line item 10 of this sales order created.

  2. Go to work center Inbound Logistics, access common task New Customer Return Notification, search sales order ABC, in the result, there is only line item 10, no line item 20.

  3. Select sales order ABC line item 10, click Next. 

  4. In step 2, remove sales order ABC line item 10, add sales order ABC line item 20, maintain sales order ID, sales order item ID and mandatory fields.

  5. Click Check Consistency, warning displays "Quantity entered exceeds delivered quantity for item 20 in sales order ABC".

  6. Click Next until new customer return notification created.

  7. I can also create customer return notification for sales order ABC item 20 through web service ManageCustomerReturnNotificationIn. 

*ABC represents sales order ID.

Cause

Resolution

System allows creating customer return notification for sales order line items which have no delivered quantity, either through UI common task New Customer Return Notification (a warning will be displayed about "Quantity entered exceeds delivered quantity") or through web service ManageCustomerReturnNotificationIn.

This is a business flexibility system provides for users.
