 Unable to run Material Requirements Planning (MRP) on a sales order basis.

Standard system behavior

In SAP S/4HANA Public cloud, it is not possible to run MRP on sales order basis because the multi-level, make-to-order (MTO) planning feature is no longer available. Instead, MRP runs are designed to be more streamlined and efficient, leveraging the speed of the HANA database.

Previously, this feature allowed planning for a selected planning segment rather than all segments, primarily as a performance optimization. However, with the enhanced processing capabilities of HANA, this additional complexity is no longer required, resulting in a simplified MRP process.

In the sales order item, you can set a Reason for Rejection (e.g., "Order cancelled due to error"), under the Sales A tab to temporarily block the requirement from MRP planning.
