3591187 - SUM stuck in Phase TABIM_SHADOW_UPG2

Symptom

  • Software Update Manager (SUM) is stuck in phase TABIM_SHADOW_UPG2.
  • The latest log file in /SUM/abap/tmp displays the following message every 5 seconds:
    4 ETW000 child process <PID> is still alive,
    4 ETW000 waiting 5000 milli seconds until all children are terminated
  • <PID> is the process ID of an SAP background work process, which is in Waiting status
