Symptom
Error WE111 "The number range object is not defined" is encountered when attempting to update the EAN/UPC number on the apps "Manage Product Master Data" or "Change Material".
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open Manage Product Master Data app.
- Click on Edit.
- Set a EAN/UPC number which doesn't belong to any EAN Category.
- Error WE111 appears.
Cause
No EAN number range object was found for that EAN number.
Externally assigned EAN numbers have its EAN Category assigned automatically through EAN number range and check digits.
When no EAN Category fits the EAN number provided (considering check-digit and external number range) the error "The number range object is not defined" appears.
Resolution
Change the settings of an EAN Category to include the EAN number provided. This includes changes such as removing or including check-digit, or updating EAN number range settings.
The EAN Category settings can be updated through the following Configuration Activities:
- SSCUI 102782 - Define Attributes of EANs/UPCs.
- SSCUI 103680 - Define Number Ranges for EANs/UPCs.
