Symptom
After a change is made in the Time Zone of the current login business user or another user with different Time Zone setting accesses the Journal Entry, the Posting Date in the document is kept unchanged.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Login the tenant with a user.
- Go to General Ledger -> Journal Entries.
- Open the target Journal Entry.
- The Posting Date is shown as DD1.MM1.YYYY1.
- Click the Avatar Icon.
- Open My Setting.
- Change Time Zone of the user to another one. For example, change from UTC+8 to UTC-7.
- Refresh the tenant and access to the same document in Step 3.
- It is desired that the Posting Date is shown as DD2.MM1.YYYY1 due to the Time Zone changed. However, the Posting Date is till shown as DD1.MM1.YYYY1.
Cause
This is the designed system behavior. The Posting Date in Journal Entry is not influenced by the Time Zone Setting of the business user.
Resolution
If the generation of a Journal Entry is the result of a process which involves an Outbound Delivery, the Posting Date is determined by the Shipment Date of the Outbound Delivery. The Shipment Date of the Outbound Delivery is controlled by the Time Zone setting for the related Site.
When the date is transformed from Outbound Delivery to Journal Entry, only the date will be kept while the time details will be ignored. Therefore, the Posting Date in Journal Entry is only determined by the Time Zone of the Site and Shipment Date in the front Outbound Delivery.
