Symptom

  • How to create an import Data Connection to an Oracle Database in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)?
  • Unable to find oracle data source in the list of the available data sources.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud.
  • Oracle database.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log in to SAC.
  2. Go to Connections.
  3. Click on + icon to choose connection type.
    >> Cannot find option to connect to Oracle database.

Cause

There is no entry available for "Oracle DB" as a connection type when creating an import connection to an Oracle database. "SQL Databases" needs to be selected as the data source instead.

Resolution

  • To establish a connection between an Oracle database and SAC, "SQL Databases" needs to be selected as the data when creating a new import connection. Then, specify "Oracle" as an entry to indicate the path to the JDBC driver in the "DriverConfig.properties" file.
  • Refer to the SAP documentation to follow the steps on how to create the SQL connection: Import Data Connection to an SQL Database
