Symptom
- A warning message 'The references of the story to the custom widget are inconsistent' appears when opening a story that was actively using the deleted custom widget.
- The export functionality of the story, including the custom widget, fails to work.
Environment
SAP ANALYTICS CLOUD 2025.1.10
Reproducing the Issue
- Log in to SAP Analytics Cloud.
- Navigate to Stories and create a story that utilizes a custom widget.
- Go to the custom widget section and delete the custom widget that is currently in use.
- Open the same story again
- Notice that the warning "The references of the story to the custom widget are inconsistent" appears.
Cause
Deleting a custom widget without considering its active usage breaks the dependencies between the widget and the stories that rely on it. Reuploading the widget does not automatically restore these references, leading to this warning
Resolution
To resolve this, just save the story. You can therefore repair the dependencies and no longer see the warning.
