3594081 - Error Messages: "The PowerDesigner server is not available" and "The requested resource is not available" on Login - SAP PD

Symptom

  • An error message is displayed when trying to log in:
       The PowerDesigner server is not available. Please contact your administrator.

  • An HTTP 404 error is reported in the log file, indicating that the requested resource odata.svc is not available:
        Error: <!doctype html><html lang="fr"><head><title>HTTP Status 404 - Not Found</title><style type="text/css">body {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;} h1, h2, h3, b {color:white;background-color:#525D76;} h1 {font-size:22px;} h2 {font-size:16px;} h3 {font-size:14px;} p {font-size:12px;} a {color:black;} .line {height:1px;background-color:#525D76;border:none;}</style></head><body><h1>HTTP Status 404 - Not Found</h1><hr class="line" /><p><b>Type</b> Status report</p><p><b>message</b> The requested resource [&#47;powerdesigner-web&#47;odata.svc&#47;] is not available</p><p><b>description</b> The requested resource is not available.</p><hr class="line" /><h3>Apache Tomcat/8.5.87</h3></body></html>

  • File portalserver16-stderr.log reports the following error:
       SEVERE: One or more listeners failed to start. Full details will be found in the appropriate container log file.

  • File localhost.yyyy-mm-dd.log reports:
       java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: oracle/jdbc/OracleDriver has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 55.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 52.0 (unable to load class [oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver])

  • The JAVA_HOME system environment variable is set to C:\Program Files\SAP\PowerDesigner Portal 16\sapjvm_8_jre.

  • File ojdbc11.jar was selected during the installation and can be found in C:\Program Files\SAP\PowerDesigner Portal 16\Tomcat\webapps\powerdesigner-web\WEB-INF\lib.
