Symptom
For service and team member, the cost rate is not the expected in the Project's Work tab.
Environment
Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Project Management work center.
- Go to Projects view.
- Search for ABC (ABC is the Project's ID).
- Click in Edit button.
- Navigate to Project Plan tab.
- Navigate to Gantt Chart subtab.
- Select task ABC-n (n is the number of the task).
- Navigate to Work sub subtab.
- For Service XYZ and team member PQR, the cost rate is 10 USD (10 USD is an example).
It was expected a cost rate of 15 USD instead (15 USD is an example).
Cause
The Cost Rate value is being taken from the Period Plans.
Note: please refrain that, for internal employees, the Work is valued using the following valuation strategy:
- Labor resource cost rate;
- Service cost rate (if the Cost Rate must be the Service cost rate, make sure that no Cost Rate is defined for Labor Resource).
Resolution
In order to maintain specific Cost Rate in the project, please follow the steps below:
- Go to Project Management work center.
- Go to Projects view.
- Search for ABC.
- Click in Edit button.
- Navigate to Project Plan tab.
- Navigate to Gantt Chart subtab.
- Select task ABC-n (n is the number of the task).
- Navigate to Work sub subtab.
- Select the entry for Service XYZ and team member PQR.
- Click in Edit Period Plans button.
- Delete all the entries in section Period Plan for Work Package.
- Click in Ok. The Cost Rate should be zero now.
- Click in Edit Period Plans button.
- Click in Generate Period Plan button.
- Click in Ok.
Now the Cost Rate should be the same as maintained in the Resource's master data.
How to check the Resource's cost rate maintained in the master data:
- Go to Supply Chain Design Master Data work center.
- Go to Resources view.
- Search for PQR (refrain that here the user inserts the number of the team member, and not their name).
- Click in Edit button.
- Navigate to Valuation tab.
In Cost Rates section, check the Cost Rates maintained.
