Symptom
- ASE errorlog reports "Current process infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)" at address ptn__get_pdes.
- It can occur when a client is inserting a row into a partitioned table and another client is running "alter table drop partition" command on the same table at the same time.
- The infected user task held the Pdes Chain Spinlock, so ASE automatically shuts down. Errorlog entries include:
Address 0x0x0000000001f133fd (ptn__get_pdes+0x5ad)
Current process (0xXXXXXXXX) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
../..
Spinlock Pdes Chain Spinlocks at address 0x0000000145808e80 owned by <kpid number>
- The error may be accompanied by a stacktrace referencing the functions:
ptn__get_pdes
ptn_get_pdes
ptn_pdes_set
open_partition
open__common_sdes_setup
sdes_hookup
