3595746 - Inactive Employee Showing Benefits In 'My Active Enrollments' Portlet, But Not On 'Benefit Overview' Page

Symptom

An employee who has been terminated / made inactive had active benefits they were enrolled in before they were terminated. Now that they are terminated, these benefits still show on the 'My Active Enrollments' portlet, suggesting they are still active. However, they do not show in the 'Benefits Overview' page.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log into environment
  2. Go to the profile of a terminated / inactive user
  3. Go to their 'Benefits' portlet and see benefits show under 'My Active Enrollments', suggesting the employee still has active benefits
  4. Click 'Go To Benefits' to go to the 'Benefit Overview' page, and see no benefits show

Cause

This issue can occur when the employee's 'Benefit Enrollment' records for those benefits have no 'end record', i.e. an 'inactive' record with end date 31/12/9999.

The 'My Active Enrollments' portlet shows all of the employee's benefits which are currently active, which includes those which have either not reached the effective date of the 'Inactive' enrollment record, or those which do not have any 'Inactive' enrollment record after the current 'Active' one. If the 'Active' record is the record at the top of the 'Benefit Enrollment' log, this means these benefits will never be made 'Inactive' and will always show in 'My Active Enrollments', even if they are no longer applicable.

Resolution

In order to resolve this, you will need to go to 'Benefits Admin Overview' > 'Benefit Enrollment', find the unique 'Benefit Enrollment' object for the subject user for each of the benefits affected, and manually add the 'Inactive' record to each enrollment object so the enrollment is made inactive as of your specified date (e.g. the employee's termination date).

(In order to figure out the 'Benefit Enrollment' ID for each enrollment object, you can go to 'Import And Export Data' > 'Export Data' > 'Benefit Enrollment' to export the 'Benefit Enrollment' object, and open the 'Benefit Enrollment.csv' file to find all of the details, where you can then filter by 'User ID' / 'Worker ID' of the subject user and find the impacted Benefit ID and its specific 'Benefit Enrollment' ID.)
