3596048 - Error "Looks like something went wrong" for Multiple Employment's Spotlight - 1H 2025

Symptom

  • Error “Looks like something went wrong. Please try again. If the issue persists, contact your system administrator” when viewing Spotlight for users with multiple employments.
  • Error "Error Code: 400". When clicking on "?" beside the error, it shows "Cannot invoke "com.successfactors.***...setEmploymentDifferentiator(String)" because the return value of "java.util.Map.get(Object)" is null".
  • No data is shown in the portlet, though it has data which can be seen while editing/adding data.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Search for the user having Multiple Employment.
  2. Click on the icon to open spotlight.
  3. Error “Looks like something went wrong. Please try again. If the issue persists, contact your system administrator.” occurs.

Resolution

It may be because there is issue with the user's Employment Differentiator. You can run a check in Admin Center > Check Tool > User Management to find if the user has issues with Employment Differentiator. The Check Tool provides a Quick Fix option as well.
