3596124 - Role for “unalign-parent” and “unalign-child” permission in Latest Goal Management

Symptom

This article explains the logic behind the role setting for “unalign-parent” and “unalign-child” permission in Latest Goal Management when using Unalign Goal feature.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Goal Management

Resolution

In Latest GM, the option “unalign goal” is only available in user’s own goal plan. In other words, if user A accesses user B’s goal plan and tries to unalign a goal, the option will not appear in user B’s goal plan.
Therefore, the user is always performing the unalign action to his/her own goals.
As a result, in latest GM, only role "E" can be used for “unalign-parent” and “unalign-child” permission setting.

To better understand the use case for “unalign-parent” and “unalign-child”, let me give you an example:

User A is Manager. User B is Employee.
User A links/cascades a goal with/to user B. In this case, User A’s goal is the parent goal, and user B’s goal is the child goal.
Let’s say user A’s goal is Goal A (parent goal), and user B’s goal is Goal B (child goal).

Scenario 1: user A (manager) wants to unalign goals
For user A, his/her goal is the parent goal, so unaligning Goal B means unaligning a child goal for his/her parent goal.
Therefore, user A needs the “unalign-child” permission, and the role is granted to E, because user A is acting on his/her own goal.

Scenario 2: user B (employee) wants to unalign goals
For user B, his/her goal is the child goal, so unaligning Goal A means unaligning a parent goal for his/her child goal.
Therefore, user B needs the “unalign-parent” permission, and the role is granted to E for the same reason.
