3597539 - Can I create relationships between dictionary entries when importing them from an Excel file?

Symptom

When importing an Excel file into the Dictionary, I want to create relationships between the imported entries via attribute type Dictionary link.

For example:

We have 2 categories, one is the 'Parent Category' and another is the 'Child Category'. I want the entries from the 'Parent Category' to be linked as 'Parent' to the entries from the 'Child Category' and vice versa.

This would look like this:

Parent Category:

Title: Child:Parent:
Parent 1Child 1
Parent 2Child 2
Parent 3Child 3

Child Category:

Title:Child:Parent:
Child 1 Parent 1
Child 2 Parent 2
Child 3 Parent 3

Resolution

It is possible to import not only dictionary entries, but also their attributes so that they are linked together.

Prerequisites:

  1. The relevant Dictionary Attributes are already created. In our example, it's 'Parent' and 'Child'. The type is 'Dictionary link'
  2. The respective Dictionary Categories are created: 'Parent Category', 'Child Category'

How to proceed:

  1. Start with the import of the Excel sheet 'Parent Category'
  2. In the import setup:
    1. Match the respective attributes
    2. Check the option to create new entries
    3. Choose matching identifier in Excel and dictionary as 'Title'
  3. import the Excel sheet 'Child Category' with the same import setup
