 How to restrict depreciation from being picked up during settlement and posted back to AUC/Project.

The project was assigned as the WBS element in the final asset.

The WBS element should not be assigned to the fixed asset. Otherwise, the depreciation run will post the depreciation to the assigned CO Objects.
