Symptom
You have seen one employee being able to record some Time Entries against a Project.
However, there is not Purchase Order associated to this Project linked with this user & you want to know why this is possible.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
Work Center Project Management.
Project View.
Search, Open and View All the Project 12345.
Under Team and Staffing tab, Team sub-tab, we can find the employee XYZ being a Team Member.
When going to Products tab > Purchase Order View, we cannot find any Purchase Order linked to the user XYZ.
However, this user can still record some Time entries against the Project from his/her Time Sheet.
Cause
This is the expected System behavior.
Resolution
An employee can record time entry against a Project even if there are no Purchase Orders linked to the employee because time entry is not directly tied to Purchase Orders.
Time entry is typically used to track the amount of time an employee spends working on a specific Project or Task, and this information can be used for Project management, resource allocation, and billing purposes.
While Purchase Orders may be used to track the costs associated with a Project, they are not necessarily required for an employee to record their time spent on the Project.
However, if the project is billable to a customer, the time entry information can be used to create an Invoice for the customer.
In summary, time entry in ByD is a separate process from Purchase Orders and allows employees to track their time spent on various Projects and Tasks, regardless of whether there are Purchase Orders linked to their work.
