3598418 - Unable to Delete Product Due to Template Reference That Is Not Visible in Setup

Symptom

  • When attempting to delete a product in SAP CPQ, the following error is displayed:
    "This product cannot be deleted because the following templates are using this product: <template name>."
  • The referenced template cannot be found under the standard Templates area in Setup.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to Setup.
  2. Go to Products Catalog.
  3. Products.
  4. Search for the affected product.
  5. Open the More Actions (⋮) menu.
  6. Select Delete.

Cause

The product may still be referenced by a Deployment Template, which is stored separately from the standard Templates area.

Resolution

  • Check the Deployment Templates tab under the Deploy/Send section in Setup for the template referenced in the error message.
  • If the product is referenced by a Deployment Template, remove the product reference (or delete the template if it is no longer required) before attempting to delete the product again.
