3598811 - New feature in CE2502 'Assign one posting period variant to multiple company codes'

Symptom

It's impossible to open/close posting periods for multiple company codes in app 'manage posting periods'.

Environment

S/4 HANA Cloud Pubic Edition 2502 and above

Reproducing the Issue

Open 'Manage Posting Periods' app
Enter selection parameters and execute
Select multiple Posting Period Variants
The 'Set Posting Period' button is greyed out when more than one posting period variant is selected

Cause

The new feature 'Assign one posting period variant to multiple company codes' delivered with release 2502 enables the new function Open/Close posting periods for multiple company code at the same time.

When the selected company codes are assigned to different Posting Period Variants, it's impossible to set the Posting Periods with the selection of multiple Posting Period Variants. This is standard system design.

Resolution

The posting period variants are preconfigured. In the standard delivery each posting period variant is assigned to just one company code.

However, it's possible to use 'Define Variants for Open Posting Periods configuration' activity (ID: 101018) to create, maintain, and delete posting periods variants.

And then, use 'Assign Fiscal Year Variants to Ledgers and Company Codes configuration' activity (ID: 105409) to assign multiple company codes to one posting period variant.
