3600297 - Task Chains failed with the Status "Failed (Forbidden)"

Symptom

  • The task chains were working fine and suddenly failed with the status "Failed (Forbidden)". The error message indicates that "The assigned user does not have the privileges necessary to execute this task".
  • The issue occurs sporadically and resolves on its own after a short time, after that task chains resume normal operation.

Environment

SAP Datasphere

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In SAP Datasphere, go to Data Integration Monitor
  2. Select the Task Chain
  3. Task Chain failed with the status "Failed (Forbidden)"
  4. Click on "View Details"
  5. The error message "The assigned user does not have the privileges necessary to execute this task." is shown.

Cause

When the system is very busy, the chain takes longer than the usual few minutes, and the following scheduled occurrence is triggered. The second run fails with a "LOCKED" sub-status. As the system is very busy, the "LOCKED" Run takes too long to register, and a "re-try" is initiated a few minutes after the "LOCKED" one. The error is logged as "FORBIDDEN" because it occurred outside the scheduled execution window.

Resolution

For the time being, the "FORBIDDEN" Runs after the "LOCKED" ones can be disregarded.
