Symptom
- Products Not Differentiated: SAP Sustainability Footprint Management cannot distinguish between different types of the same product, such as "green" and "gray" versions, when they share the same material number. The "green" version refers to products manufactured with more sustainable practices and lower emissions, while the "gray" version refers to products with traditional practices that result in higher carbon emissions.
-
Inaccurate Emission Calculations: Since all products with the same material number are treated identically, the emission calculations can be inaccurate. This occurs because the system does not capture the differences in manufacturing practices and emission levels between the "green" and "gray" versions.
-
Supplier Information Not Utilized: Although the system captures supplier data when goods are received, it does not use this information in subsequent steps to adjust the carbon emission calculations for different types of products. This limits the accuracy of emission calculations as it does not consider the specific emission practices of the product.
