3602152 - Secured Database Connection Failure when sslValidateCertificate set to 'true', but works well when set to 'false'

Symptom

  • Secured HANA database connection from an application fails when the parameter global.ini - communication - sslValidateCertificate is set to 'true'.
    For example, if it is a connection in HANA Studio, the error may look like below:

     "com.sap.db.jdbc.exceptions.JDBCDriverException: SAP DBTech JDBC: Cannot connect to jdbc:sap://<ip address> [Could not unwrap the data received from the server. Received fatal alert: certificate_required: <ip address>:<port>-> <ip address>:<SQL port>]" is displayed.
