3602817 - Inconsistent Address Deletion Behavior in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • During the replication of business partner data from C4C to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition using the standard CPI integration, inconsistent address deletion behavior is observed.
  • In some instances, when an address is deleted in C4C, the corresponding address is deleted in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
  • In other instances, when an address is deleted in C4C, the address validity dates are updated in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, but the address itself is not deleted.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a new customer in C4C with multiple addresses.
  2. Delete some of the addresses in C4C.
  3. Observe the corresponding changes in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

Cause

The issue might be related to the logic within the S4 system, which seems to compare incoming addresses from C4C and either deletes or marks the validity end date based on certain criteria.

Resolution

The standard logic for address deletion in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition is as follows:

  1. If both the "Valid From" and "Valid To" dates are less than the system date, the address is deleted from the system.
  2. If the "Valid To" date is equal to or greater than the system date, the address is not deleted, and only the "Valid To" date is updated.
  3. If an address is created and deleted on the same day, since the "Valid From" date is set to the system date and the "Valid To" date cannot be set to a date prior to the system date, the address is immediately deleted.
