3603130 - Error on category field while editing Development Objective in SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals

• An error message "There is an error on field category. Category does not exist." is displayed while trying to edit and save an existing development objective.

• SAP SuccessFactors Career Development Planning

1. Navigate to objectives.
2. Select Development objectives.
3. Attempt to edit an existing development objective.
4. Upon saving the objective, the error message is displayed.

There are two possible reasons:

1. This happens when dirty data gets created in the OBJECTIVE_CATEGORY field. Note that OBJECTIVE_CATEGORY field should be empty.
2. Default Category is not configured in the Development Goal Plan template.

The workaround is to manually create goals and copy the data. Also to avoid this issue in future it is advised to follow the best practice to configure the default category.
