Symptom
- Batch classification data is not displayed in the "Batch Information Cockpit" app but is visible in the "Change Batch" (MSC2N) app.
- In the "Batch Information Cockpit" app, the classification section sometimes appears empty, even though data exists and can be viewed in "Change Batch".
- Classification data is also not displayed in the "Display Batch" (MSC3N) app.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the "Batch Information Cockpit" app and verify that classification data is missing.
- Open the "Display Batch" (MSC3N) app and confirm that classification data is also missing there.
Resolution
This behavior is due to differences in how classification data is handled in display mode versus change mode.
In display mode, the system retrieves classification data directly from the database. If there have been changes to the class (e.g., a new standard characteristic like LOBM* was added after the batch was created), these changes may not be reflected until the data is updated and saved.
In change mode, the system does not allow user input for standard characteristics that reference table fields (e.g., LOBM*). Instead, it automatically retrieves the current values from the batch master data and displays them.
Therefore, unless the updated classification data is saved after changes to the class structure, the display mode will continue to show incomplete or outdated data — regardless of the app being used.
