3603420 - Sync Absences/Holidays to Calendar Fails with 'Need Admin Approval' in Teams

Users receive a "Need admin approval" message when attempting to sync Absences/Holidays to Calendar in Teams.

    Scenario A:  Need admin approval message is showing

     

Scenario B: Or "Approval Required" message is showing:

Reason A for Scenario A: This occurs because the customer's tenant settings differ from the default configuration - specifically, under "User consent settings," Option 2 ("Allow user consent for apps from verified publishers, for selected permissions (Recommended)") is enabled instead of Option 3 ("Allow user consent for apps"). 

Reason B for Sceanrio B: After requestin the approval,  the admin need go to the "My Pending“ under Admin consent request to approve the request:

Approve the request: To approve a request, grant admin consent to the application. Once a request is approved, all requestors are notified that their request for access is granted. Approving a request allows all users in your tenant to access the application unless otherwise restricted with user assignment.

Important Notes

Please be aware of the following when using the Sync Absences to Calendar and Sync Holidays to Calendar quick actions:

• The Microsoft Graph permission Calendars.ReadWrite is required for syncing events to the Teams calendar. It allows the SAP SuccessFactors app to read and modify users' calendar events in Teams. To set this up, follow the instructions in Configure how users consent to applications and choose one of the following options in Microsoft Entra admin center  Consent and permissions  User consent settings:
  • If you choose Allow user consent for apps from verified publishers, for selected permissions (Recommended), classify the basic permissions (openid, profile, email, and offline_access) as listed in Configure permission classifications, including Calendars.ReadWrite, as low impact and add them.
  • If you choose Allow user consent for apps, no further action is needed.
