3605998 - Error "Select valid value from drop down" When Creating a Sub Case in SAP Service Cloud Version 2

Symptom

  • Users may encounter the error message "Select valid value from drop down" when creating or updating a case or sub-case in SAP Service Cloud Version 2.
  • The error occurs even when all visible mandatory fields appear to be completed.
  • The issue is commonly linked to a specific Case Type rather than all types.

Environment

  • SAP Service Cloud Version 2 1.0
  • SAP Sales Cloud Version 2 1.0

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Cases
  2. Create a new case, or open an existing case and create a sub-case
  3. Error "Select valid value from drop down" is displayed in the UI

Cause

  • The error is triggered due to a missing or improperly configured Code List Restriction entry for a specific field relevant to the selected Case Type.
  • If a required value is not listed in the CLR, the system cannot proceed even if the field appears populated.

Resolution

  1. Identify the Case Type for which the error occurs.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Extensibility > Code List Restrictions.
  3. Locate the Case Type by its description.
  4. Under Case Type > Allowed Values, locate the field(s) that may be missing valid entries.
  5. Add a check to the field(s) that are causing the issue to ensure allowed values are properly defined.
  6. Save your changes.
  7. Test the case or sub-case creation again to confirm the issue is resolved.

After updating the Code List Restrictions configuration, the system should correctly recognize allowed values and permit the operation without errors.
