Symptom
Customers or partners may request an extension of the default retention period for messages in the message monitoring screen, which is currently set to 14 days.
Environment
- Sales Cloud Version 2
- Service Cloud Version 2
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Settings
- Go to Message Monitoring
- Refer to the retention period limits
Cause
Inbound and outbound messages are retained for only 14 days, which may not be sufficient for various business and operational needs.
Common Scenarios Requiring Extended Retention:
-
Investigating issues that span multiple weeks or software releases.
-
Supporting extended testing cycles during UAT and regression phases.
-
Addressing post-deployment issues, where symptoms manifest after more than two weeks.
-
Complying with internal company audit and regulatory policies that mandate message traceability for at least 30 days.
-
Mitigating risks associated with undetected integration failures, delayed resolution, and non-compliance with audit requirements.
-
Reducing the manual workload needed to extract and archive messages before they expire.
Resolution
The SAP Product Engineering Team is evaluating a new feature to allow customers to extend message retention beyond 14 days.
To help prioritize this enhancement, customers should submit their request through the SAP Influence Portal Ideas
